What educators are saying

I found it very helpful to have a resource that has activities separated by the different types of context clues.
Thank you! I adapted the resource a bit to include context clue examples from our current unit and used as stations. This is a great resource for the types of context clues.

Description

This document contains 5 types of context clues - I.D.E.A.S. Inference, Definition, Example, Antonym and Synonym. Each page is dedicated to one of they types of clues. There are example sentences in the left column with clues underlined and definitions of the unknown word. In the right column are sentences for students to try. This is a great tool for students to practice using context to clues to guess the meaning of unknown words in a text. Once the worksheets are finished they can be saved as a reference for students when reading other texts. Students have fun using this guide and it helps build their confidence when reading complex texts.
