    Description

Fourth Grade Math Word Problems! Great resource for Fall Math Small Group Instruction, Math Centers, Purposeful practice and more! Digital version included compatible with Google Slides and Google Classroom! Differentiated with three different versions! Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division multi-step story problems! Math Project included!

SAVE 20% BY PURCHASING THESE RESOURCES IN A BUNDLE! Set your students up for success this Fall with these engaging seasonal resources!

Fall is such an important time of year to support students in their perseverance and independent problem-solving skills and give them a chance to apply what they are learning. The word problems in this resource all lend themselves to visual models and are very helpful for teaching other problem-solving strategies such as labelling and finding the unknown.

    This BUNDLE includes:

    • Three seasonal & differentiated math story problem resources (Fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving). Each of these resources includes:
      • Four pages of word problems for each level (3 challenging word problems per page) (a total of 12 questions per level--36 total questions (12 total pages).
      • Each page is a fun seasonal theme, and includes seasonal-themed word problems
      • An answer key for every page.
      • A digital and printable version of every page!

    • One differentiated Thanksgiving-themed math project! This project is also differentiated. Students choose how many people to invite to their dinner which becomes the factor by which they multiply other numbers. (You can give students guidance on which number to choose). It includes some bonus challenge questions throughout the core of the project and also includes one extension activity.
      • Extension 1: Grocery Shopping is aligned to Mathematical Practice 1, as well as 4.MD.A.2, and 4.OA.A.3. This extension allows students to go shopping for their ingredients based on prices in the “grocery store.” This extension requires students to use addition and subtraction skills as well as some multiplication and division but the main purpose is for students to work on their multi-step problem solving skills. Students have to read charts and reference recipes to determine the total cost. Students can choose to find the total cost for just one recipe or for their entire meal so it can be scaffolded for a variety of learners.

These word problems are differentiated with three different versions so that you can work on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and multi-step problem solving skills with your students at all levels! Use this simple guide to determine which set of problems is best for each student. Just look for the level icon at the top of each page. Students can work on the level that is appropriate for them or you can have students work their way up through all three levels!

These story problems work great for math centers, small group instruction, distance learning and more!

    This BUNDLE of resources is aligned to standards 4.OA.A.1, 4.OA.A.2, 4.OA.A.3, 4.OA.B.4, 4.OA.C.5, 4.NBT.A.1, 4.NBT.A.3, 4.NBT.B.4, 4.NBT.B.5, 4.NBT.B.6, 4.MD.A.2, 4.MD.A.3, 5.NBT.B.5, 5.NBT.B.6.

Resources open as a ZIP files and include a printable (PDF), and a digital (Power Point) version of the resource. The digital version is compatible with Google Slides.

I hope your students enjoy these engaging, rigorous and festive Fall math story problems and projects!

Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
Recognize that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right. For example, recognize that 700 ÷ 70 = 10 by applying concepts of place value and division.
Use place value understanding to round multi-digit whole numbers to any place.
Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm.
