These resources are complementary to your existing math curriculum. Often, these are the pieces missing from our day-to-day standards-focused instruction. With a traditional basal curriculum, a spiral doesn't typically exist. Instead, students work through standards by units and often don't revisit those standards again later. Research shows students need several repetitions to add something to their long-term memory, so we need to give them ongoing practice.

Additionally, when we only give students word problem practice within defined units, they notice the routine and don't always focus on the context. We need to give students opportunities to work with rigorous problems in ongoing ways to ensure students are applying new strategies and getting ample opportunities to practice the standards throughout the year.

HERE'S WHAT TEACHERS HAVE SAID ABOUT SOME OF THE RESOURCES IN THIS BUNDLE:

    • "This game has helped so much to improve my students' fact fluency!

    • I am so happy I found these word problems. I love how my third graders have become more confident problem solvers doing a word problem a day. Thank you for this resource!!

    • "My students BEG to play this game. So easy to implement in the classroom when you have an extra 5 mins. Thank you!"

    • Such a great way to prepare students to comprehend word problems and become more independent in solving them. Also, reading the problems and seeing that there are more steps or additional questions linked to the original question is a huge skill needed for state tests! Thank you for creating and sharing . This is a great supplement to our math program.

    • These are so useful and easy to prepare for my intense-resource classroom. It is a very nice review of skills they've learned. It's also a nice warm-up for our math group every day. I've also used it in their homework folders. Great purchase!

    • "My students loved playing this and are begging to play again! I love how simple it is and that with one touch of a button I can mix it up and play again!"

    • My kids did this everyday for morning work. It was a great cumulative review. I have used this resource for several years. Probably one of my best purchases!
    • This is the BEST thing I purchased last year! It is such a great resource!

    • "My class loves this game! And I love that it is automated and I don't have to call out the problems! Gives me a little break to get some other things done!"

    • "My students BEG to play this game and hate when I tell them its time to put it away. The perfect way to practice multiplication and division facts. Thanks!"

    • Great product! Love the exposure to so many skills each day/week! Awesome to keep those skills taught at the beginning of the year "fresh" in their minds all year long! Love it!

    Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram.
Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l). Add, subtract, multiply, or divide to solve one-step word problems involving masses or volumes that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem.
Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units-whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
Recognize area as an attribute of plane figures and understand concepts of area measurement.
