    Geography and Topography Understandings:

    This unit is designed for the pages to use alone or in an Interactive Notebook! The unit follows 3rd grade- Georgia SS Standards but can be used for most states.

    In this product, there are three foldables based on Geography, Latitude, & Longitude; a matching game for the rives and mountain chains; 5 quizzes that are great for formative and informative assessments, KWL chart, Ticket out the door and much more.

    Included is what the Georgia Standards say students should know and understand about geography including latitude and longitude, Mississippi River, Colorado River, Hudson River, Ohio River, Rio Grande, Appalachian Mountains, and Rocky Mountains.

    Greek Roots:

    The students will describe Identify the influence of Greek architecture (columns on the Parthenon, U. S. Supreme Court building), law, and the Olympic Games on the present.

    *Explain the ancient Athenians’ idea that a community should choose its own leaders.

    *Compare and contrast Athens as a direct democracy with the United States as a representative democracy.

    *Locate the Equator, Prime Meridian, and lines of latitude and longitude on a globe.

    *Locate Greece on a world map

    ECONOMIC Understanding:

    The students will describe the four types of productive resources: Natural, Human, Capital, Entrepreneur. Students will be able to give examples of interdependence and trade and will explain how voluntary exchange benefits both parties.

    Key Words: Natural, Capital, Human, Entrepreneur, Interdependence, trade, goods and services, allocated, marketplace,cost, benefits.

    Government and Civic Understandings:

    This unit will explain the importance of the basic principles that provide the foundation of a republican form of government (SS3CG1). Student will be able to explain why in the U.S. there is a separation of power between branches and levels of government. Students will also explore the 3 levels of government and the 3 branches in each including the names of legislative branch.
