3D Printing Pen Tutorial and Buyers Guide for 3D Printing in the Classroom
- Word Document File
Description
3D printing is the newest trend in creating amazing projects! While regular 3D printers require advanced knowledge of computer-aided design, 3D printing pens allow anyone to be creative. If you can hold a pencil, you can 3D print!
Using 3D printing pens for personal use is completely different than using them in the classroom. This guide is designed by a teacher, for teachers. From the challenges I faced purchasing, to safety concerns with giving students pens that get too hot, I guarantee this tutorial will save you time and money!
This tutorial will also help you choose what pen type is best for your classroom. There are many different brands and filament types and sizes to choose from, so I have broken down my opinions on the top four most common 3D printing pen types. I teach a high school special education life skills class, and I am able to give every student in my class a pen they can safely use at their level (YES! There are pens that CANNOT burn your skin, I let my two year old use his own!)
I’ve also included instructions for using pens, techniques, troubleshooting, and projects in easy-to-read forms that students can use to gain mastery over their new skill. This guide will get your students closer to creating unique masterpieces with their 3D printing pens!
