30 Easy-to-Read Comprehension Cards with questions about Monsters!

Each card contains easy-to-read sentences and light questions (zoom/scroll to see the difficulty level). I usually let the students choose reading cards as an extra assignment, but sometimes we build whole lessons based on the cards.

* Print single-sided, fold in half, laminate, and let the students write/draw their answers in their notebooks!

Here are some ideas for how to use these cards:

• As an extra reading activity: Have students choose a card and read it silently. Then, they can answer the questions on the back of the card.
• As a writing prompt: Have students choose a card and use it as a prompt for a story or poem about a monster.
• For a group activity: Divide the class into groups and give each group a card. Have the groups read the card together and then discuss the questions.
• For a whole-class activity: Project one of the cards onto the whiteboard and read it aloud to the class. Then, have the class answer the questions together.

Additional Tips:

• Differentiate the instruction: Provide students with different sets of cards based on their reading level.
• Teach different skills: Use the cards to teach reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing.
• Make cards more challenging: Ask students to create their own questions or write a longer story or poem.
