What educators are saying

I used this during our no new instruction time with my group of higher leveled kiddos. It was an awesome resource.
This is an engaging resource. I am using it with a group of students that I tutor outside of school. They enjoy it, and it is working for them. I see some improvement already.

Description

2nd grade reading comprehension passages for literacy centers, guided reading, homework, and reading fluency. Use these fun reading activities as an engaging activity for standardized testing prep!

What's Included?

These fourteen reading passages are fictional texts with corresponding comprehension questions that focus on the following:

  • Identifying setting and characters
  • Describing character's feelings and traits
  • Identifying the problem and solution
  • Defining tier 2 vocabulary using context clues
  • Determining author's purpose
  • Making inferences and predictions
  • Identifying phonics patterns

Each passage has blank spaces for you or your students to add names for the main characters. Making your students the characters in a text can increase interest and motivation!

What Can I Use This For?

I specifically chose these areas based on my 2nd grade students' standardized reading assessment scores. Thus, these passages can be used to target your students' needs, too!

These can be used for:

  • Homework
  • ELA reading centers
  • Reading fluency passages
  • Anything else you can come up with!
