Description

Thank you for looking at my collection of writing rubrics for K-2nd grade students. I do suggest you take a look at the preview file in order to see exactly what is included. Some of the preview pages may not appear clear when you view them, but the actual file is clear.

I have developed 21 separate writing rubrics that you can use individually and attach to student work, combine into a book and let students self-check their writing using small stamps or stickers, use as peer editing tools, or in any other way you can think of to enhance your writing program. (See the preview file for photo examples.) The collection also includes an additional rubric that is blank so you can write your own objectives into the ice cream cone format. Each writing rubric comes in three versions - one sheet of four small rubrics with lines, one sheet of four small rubrics without lines, and one sheet with one large rubric for possible posting and/or use as an example.

These writing rubrics are all tied to the second "Conventions of Standard English" language standard for grades K-2 and are great for scaffolding instruction among all levels of writers in your classroom. (You can see exactly how these are broken down in the preview file.) I will caution you that there are some rubrics that may not apply to all of the grade levels. For example, you will probably not want to use the rubric incorporating possessives in kindergarten, as this is a specific second grade standard. Please leave me a question if you would like specific grade-level information going beyond what you see in the preview file.

I know this tool has been highly motivating to my students as they want to do their best to be able to fill up all of the scoops with stamps. Even when we write without getting out our ice cream writing books, I simply remind them about the books and it helps them remember what good writers do. I hope you will take the time to view the preview file and ask me any questions you may have. Depending on the response, I may develop additional collections of similar writing rubrics. Thank you again for looking.

I have added a sample download that includes three of these 21 rubrics. Please visit the below link if interested.
