As students work through this packet, which includes 15 reading passages, they become confident reading Levels G and H (DRA Levels 12 - 14) text and answering text-based questions.

Four multiple choice questions and three short answer questions are included with each passage.

As students are learning to use evidence to support their thinking, I have them find and highlight the section of text they use to justify their answer.

I often have students go on scavenger hunts to find and highlight words with long vowels, words with specific endings, words from our word wall, etc.

These passages and worksheets are useful for guided reading, close reading, choral reading, fluency work, distance learning, and/or literacy centers. The consistent and supportive format makes them ideal for special education groups.

A cover for use in home learning packs is also included.

* Please note: An answer key is included for the multiple choice questions. For many of the written response questions, answers can vary and are considered correct as long as the student logically uses evidence from the text to support his or her answer.
