What educators are saying

My students had a great time with the challenge of a scavenger hunt with information! This was lots of fun!
My students LOVED this resource. I broke them into groups of 2/3 and gave them 1-3 minutes (depending on skill level) at each colony to read and answer. It allowed for collaboration along with movement. Would recommend this resource.

Learning Objective

Students will learn about the origin and settlement of each of the 13 English colonies in a fun and engaging scavenger hunt.

Description

In this 13 Colonies activity and map scavenger hunt, students complete a gallery walk on the colonization of the 13 American Colonies. Students navigate around the room examining each colony's station to understand the reason behind its founding. Students can work individually or they can create groups and, before they are turned loose, divide up the responsibilities to research the founding of the 13 Colonies and detail the 13 Colonies map. This lesson is a great introduction to the 13 colonies, especially if examining the general reasons for settlement (religion, wealth, political freedoms).
