Description

These 124 Powerpoint lessons work hand in hand with the Saxon Algebra 2 math textbook. If you do not teach the Saxon program then these Powerpoints can be used to help teach the Secondary 2 Common Core. Each Powerpoint consists of a lesson overview which includes formulas and direct instructions. After that there are several practice problems that allows students to put into practice what they just learned. This is a great opportunity for group work as well as for the teacher to walk around the class and monitor student work. There are a couple lessons missing mainly because proofs are easier to teach without a Powerpoint and more of a discussion and discovery. I have also noticed that when downloading Powerpoint Presentations that the formatting may be a little off. You may want to review each one before presenting to make sure everything lines up.

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Interpret expressions that represent a quantity in terms of its context.
Interpret parts of an expression, such as terms, factors, and coefficients.
Interpret complicated expressions by viewing one or more of their parts as a single entity. For example, interpret ๐˜—(1 + ๐˜ณ)โฟ as the product of ๐˜— and a factor not depending on ๐˜—.
Use the structure of an expression to identify ways to rewrite it. For example, see ๐˜นโด โ€“ ๐˜บโด as (๐˜นยฒ)ยฒ โ€“ (๐˜บยฒ)ยฒ, thus recognizing it as a difference of squares that can be factored as (๐˜นยฒ โ€“ ๐˜บยฒ)(๐˜นยฒ + ๐˜บยฒ).
Choose and produce an equivalent form of an expression to reveal and explain properties of the quantity represented by the expression.
