#1 Fun Fun Phonics (11 line tracing pages)

These first 11 pages are the first of 100 pages (lines, shapes, numbers 1-5, and letters a, b, c, d, f) designed to teach Phonics and Writing a totally different way. Let me first say, this is a trial, and I am interested in feedback more than anything. I have spent the last 5 years teaching ESL to 3-4 year old Korean children, and along with my method that I have put into this sample workbook, I have successfully accomplished advanced early literacy. After 1 year of my methods, my entire class was reading 3, 4, and some even 5 letter words. Sticking with basic phonics principles, pairing letters together immediately (before learning the alphabet entirely) allowed me to achieve this feat! I hope that others can benefit from this as much as my students have. Please give me feedback if you use these sample pages and if there is enough interest, I will continue building this curriculum. A little more about my method and what this book entails...the book is laid out as follows: 11 pages of lines worksheets getting students tracing from top to bottom, left to right, and clockwise directions. Next are 8 pages teaching numbers 1-5, order and number. Then comes letters Aa and Bb. Directly after Aa and Bb I combine them into the digraph ab and ba. My method stems from the idea that students need to learn that letters are combined to make different sounds from the very beginning. I have discovered that students are more than capable of learning the alphabet this way. In fact, once they understand letter order and beginning and ending concepts, they can sound out 2 letter digraphs by simply learning consonant sounds. It's a highly effective way to teach the alphabet!

After ab and ba, I teach Cc, then ca, and ac. I only begin with the vowel Aa, and pair it with each consonant all the way through the alphabet. By the letter Dd, students are fully capable of combining short vowel 'a' with any consonant, immediately after learning consonant sounds. It's truly remarkable to see! I've completed up to letter Ff, and digraphs af and fa. If I can get enough interest, I will continue building this. Please download and try it out!

Also, attached is a powerpoint answer key that has every single answer animated. This is a wonderful thing to have in the classroom with smart boards, monitors, or projectors. Having the exact answer able to be shown to the students on the exact same page in front of them is a valuable tool.
