Description

The Great Blueness and Other Predicaments written by Arnold Lobel tells the story of a wizard who lived a long time ago. There were no colors in the world. Everything in the world was black and white and gray. “Something is wrong with the world,” he would say. “It is hard to tell when the rainy days stop and the sunny days begin.”

So, one day, to amuse himself, the wizard mixed some things together and found some interesting stuff in the bottom of his cauldron. When he named the stuff “blue” and painted his house with it, his neighbors wanted some too. But the blueness wasn't perfect. It made everyone sad. Eventually, the wizard created a fine and glorious day.

Students will enjoy the many color discoveries (mistakes) along the way to perfection.
